In collaboration with legendary American boutique amp designer Tony Bruno, VOX has taken a trip into new tonal territory with the TB35C2 guitar combo amp, featuring an all-tube, Tony Bruno design.

The VOX/Tony Bruno amp story
After establishing a strong working relationship with Tony Bruno, VOX decided it was time to embark on a full collaboration and allow Tony to design a circuit that they would put into production – a first for both VOX R&D and for Tony Bruno. So, combining Tony's expertise with both vintage and boutique amplifiers and VOX's resources and development team, they set sail on the seas of tone into unchartered waters.

First, Tony personally built and hand-wired a prototype that met his uncompromising standards. This amp would be used as a benchmark that would be continually referenced throughout the project. After the initial evaluation, VOX R&D made a replica of the unit using a PCB design instead of Tony's usual hand-wired method. Tony was then unleashed onto the new sample which allowed him to modify and add new features to suit his taste. After many rigorous voicing sessions with Tony, it was agreed that the teams had something that not only shared the same excellent tonal quality of the original unit, but also included features that would otherwise be impossible to create without the use of VOX R&D's modern development and production resources. These TB35C2 amplifier is the result of this uncompromising collaboration between VOX R&D and Tony Bruno.

The VOX amp for the player with "Stateside" tastes
Despite their British VOX pedigree, the TB35C2 amplifier has a decidedly American feel, thanks to Tony's influence and design. The all-tube chassis features a quartet of 6V6 power tubes, known for their smooth and clean high end, creamy mids, big bass, and for their rich breakup when overdriven. The preamp stage is driven by three 12AX7 preamp tubes, plus an additional 12AX7 paired with a 12AT7 tube to drive the reverb unit. Together, they create a distinctive sound familiar to fans of American blues and country music. The single-channel preamp offers both High and Low level inputs, as well as Volume, Bass, Middle, and Treble controls. External speaker jacks and extension cabinet jacks are standard equipment as well. The TB35C2 combo is equipped with a 2 - 12" Celestion G12-65 loudspeakers, mounted into a rugged birch-ply cabinet.

The SG Story
Way back in 1961 when the SG Standard temporarily replaced the Les Paul Standard in the Gibson line up, few were aware that a future icon of rock guitar was being introduced to the scene. Originally called the "Les Paul/SG", this radical, double-cutaway electric with two dramatic asymmetrical pointed "horns" and a thin all-mahogany body was worlds away from the single-cutaway maple and mahogany Les Paul that it replaced. The Limited Run 50th Anniversary Derek Trucks SG Electric Guitar is made to exacting specs of Derek’s main stage guitar, the body of the Derek Trucks SG is typical of the thin SG bodies from the mid 1960s, made from solid mahogany complete with traditional beveled edges and the distinct dual sharp cutaway horns that allow complete access to the guitar’s full 22-fret rosewood fingerboard.
